Last night aired the 2017 BET Awards where celebs showed up and showed out with their style on the gray (red) carpet, performances, and appearances.
There were performances by Big Sean, A$AP Rocky, Chris Brown, DJ Khaled, Mary J. Blige, SZA, and much more; and appearances by Jada Pinkett-Smith, Lala Anthony, Queen Latifah, and Kofis Siriboe.
Although it was a lit night, we can only give you the best top moments of this year’s awards:
Starting with #6. Solange takes home the Centric Award for “Cranes in the Sky”
Solange made all of her fans proud for taking home the Centric Award last night. It was very well-deserved, along with her first Grammy for Best R&B Performance that she was granted earlier this year.
#5. Tamar Braxton performing her new single, “My Man”
Sis, I mean, Tamar Braxton KILLED IT with the vocals last night as she put her heart into that song (especially when she sang out HEFFA). Don’t believe me? Look at this behind the scenes clip:
Sis can blow.
#4. Xscape reuniting on the BET Awards stage
Xscape reunited at the BET Awards after over 15 years of disbanding the group. They performed their classic medleys of “Understanding”, “Who Can I Run To?”, and “Just Kickin’ It”. Xscape is also set to hit the stage at this year’s Essence Festival in New Orleans from June 29th to July 2nd.
#3. Chance The Rapper‘s acceptance speech for the Humanitarian Award
Chance received the Humanitarian Award for all of the work that he has been doing in Chicago, which is also his hometown. His most recent work is when he donated $1 million dollars to Chicago Public Schools.
Not only did Chance The Rapper have former First Lady Michelle Obama introduce his award (which is LIT), he also gave the most humble but woke speech ever. From letting fans “gas [him] up” to saying true statements like, “I had plans to tell everyone in this government that y’all need to let everybody outta jail for selling weed before y’all start making it legal; for people to sell it and make a capital off it”, Chance let us all know how we can make this world a better place.
#2. The Migos performance
Migos first performed with Post Malone but it wasn’t until “Bad and Boujee” that the crowd went wild. They even had Tiffany Haddish going crazy:
And speaking of crowds going crazy, its time for #1. New Edition received the Lifetime Achievement Award
New Edition had us all nostalgic as they, along with the cast of The New Edition Story performed their greatest hits.
They had 3 generational performances as the young cast (Jahi Di’Allo Winston, Tyler Marcel Williams, Myles Truitt, Caleb McLaughlin, and Dante Hoagland) sang hits like “Mr. Telephone Man” and Candy Girl; the 2nd generational cast (Algee Smith, Keith Powers, Woody McClain, Luke James, Elijah Kelley, and Bryshere Gray) performed individual hits like “My, My, My”, “Sensitivity”, and “Poison”.
The crowd was really hype when all three generations were on stage as they performed “If It Isn’t Love” and all did the same exact choreography and all 3 Ralphs sang the lead part.

The 2017 BET Awards definitely had some great moments. We wonder what will happen next year.
