Ice Cube and the crew are back with an all-new bigger and better Barbershop.
Some of the old cast (Cedric The Entertainer, Eve, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Anthony Anderson) are back. Even the white boy (Troy Garity) makes an appearance, but the main focus are on the new stars: Nicki Minaj, Regina Hall, Lamorne Morris, Common, and the hilarious Dean Cole.
This movie tugs at heartstrings with the issues of gang violence and protection of the young black youth in Chicago. Being the pillars of the community, the crew sets out to save their own and stop the violence.
It also shows black fathers in a new light: fathers that unite for the care of their children; which some people do not get a chance to see. The crew also highlights the issue of #BlackLivesMatter when they have “barbershop conversation”.
Although the issues and message of movie is quite serious, the cast does not disappoint with the jokes and drama. With Calvin (Ice Cube) and Angie (Regina Hall) becoming partners and combining the shop and beauty salon, its Venus vs Mars on topics such as relationships and attraction. There are also jokes on why women would prefer a thug over corny dudes like Jerrod (Lamorne Morris) and why men prefer the “Instagram model” over good women like Bree (Margot Bingham).
Barbershop: The Next Cut DEFINITELY pulls at viewers’ heartstrings and opens their eyes on the issues in the community. This movie is everything: hilarious, drama-filled, heart-felt, and AWAKE! If you haven’t seen it yet, make sure you hit the theaters soon, you will not be disappointed.
